CIRCULAR NO.15/90-PASTORAL GUIDELINES ON MEMBERSHIP IN FREE MASONIC ASSOCIATIONS

To the Clergy, Religious and Faithful of Cebu:

I am sending you a copy of the Pastoral Guidelines on Membership in Free Masonic Associations. These were approved in our Mid-year meeting of the Catholic Bishops ‘ Conference of the Philippines last July 8-10, 1990 at Tagaytay City. There it was decided that each individual bishop will take charge of disseminating these Pastoral Guidelines in his respectively jurisdiction.

in view of the foregoing,  I enjoin you to inform our catholic faithful about these Pastoral Guidelines through your sermons in the Masses in the church and barrios, through your Religion Classes in the schools, and through our parish organizations.

We hope that with this clear and well-pronounced statement of the Bishops, our Catholic Faithful may be forewarned in order to avoid any misunderstanding and conflicts that may arise later on between the parish priest and the families of a Mason who may be in good faith.

To this end I impart my pastoral blessing.
