CIRCULAR # 17/08 – Original Documents in the Parishes

TO ALL PARISH PRIESTS IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF CEBU

Your Excellencies, Rev. Monsignori and Rev. Fathers:

Greetings of Peace!

Canon 486 par. 1 states, “All documents concerning the diocese or parishes must be kept with the greatest care.“ This canon clearly expresses the need to keep our documents in place for preservation and safekeeping. This serious obligation to safeguard said documents binds not only the diocesan bishop but parish priests as well.

In view of this canon, I hereby request all parish priests to turn over to our Oeconomus Office (Property Division through Rev. Fr. Carlo T. Aguilar) all original copies of land titles, tax declarations, lot plans and deeds of donation that are in your possession now. The parish will just keep photocopies or duplicate copies of said original documents. Kindly submit the requested documents at the soonest possible time.
